Budgam, Nov 23 (KNO): Budgam Working Journalists Association (BWJA) on Saturday conducted its elections to “strengthen the journalism fraternity” and “address issues faced by media professionals” in the district. The event, held at Townhall Budgam, witnessed active participation from around 50 media professionals from across the district. The election process was overseen by the Election Body. Naveed Ul Haq, associated with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), emerged as the unanimous choice for the position of president. Noor Ul Amin, representing Kesar TV Budgam, was elected as vice-president, while Younis Parray of Shaherbeen was chosen as the General Secretary. Speaking on the occasion, Naveed Ul Haq said the association is committed to upholding media ethics and addressing the challenges faced by journalists. He expressed gratitude to the participating members and congratulated the newly-elected body, which has pledged to prioritize the welfare of journalists and advocate for their rights. The election was graced by MLA Chadoora, Ali Mohammad Dar, who was the chief guest. He commended the journalists for their dedication and role in ensuring the flow of accurate information to the public. He lauded the BWJA’s efforts to establish a unified platform for journalists in the district. The newly-elected president assured the fraternity of his commitment to resolving key challenges, including access to resources and safety for media professionals. “This platform will serve as a bridge between journalists and authorities to ensure that the concerns of the fraternity are addressed effectively,” Naveed Ul Haq said. The journalists expressed appreciation for the free and fair conduct of the election and voiced optimism about the association's future under the new leadership—(KNO)
